A direct commission, Soaring Together graces MBA’s Burkholder Wellness Center, a 200,000 square foot LEED-certified building and stadium fieldhouse.
The artwork balances the energy of an all-male sports facility with natural wonder, promoting individual health while fostering interdependence and community.
The historical meaning of the art is underscored by incorporating salvaged wood from an MBA heritage tree.
The natural skyscape features kinetic and static mobiles. Lifelike hawks, the largest with a 45″ wingspan, float up through the open atrium into the skylight, creating an awe-inspiring view.
The birds fly in formation as if beginning migration. The artwork symbolizes beauty and strength in unity, reinforcing the tenet of helping one another so all may succeed.
